Located at a distance of 353 km from Bangalore, Hampi is a declared UNESCO world heritage site in central part of Karnataka. It was once the capital of the historical Vijaynagar Dynasty, one of the largest empires in India. This place, lying amidst striking ruins of the past, has sculptures and monuments showcasing excellent workmanship, its Hindu style architecture reflects the splendor of the Vijaynagar empire. The might Tungabhadra river flows right through the heart of Hampi, dividing the region into two parts. One side of the river is known as Hippie Island; it has all the cafes, hostels along with beautiful offbeat treks and a beautiful waterfall that you can enjoy. The other part is called Hampi village and temples and ruins. The rugged landscape of this side adds the drama of its historical background and the mythical backdrop of the region. Hampi is also famous for Purandara festival that happens to celebrate birth anniversary of poet-composer Purandara.

Food is prepared in family kitchen by Bharti, her sister-in-law and mother-in-law. Although there are options to order food from outside but once you have tasted the home cooked food, you would not want to miss a meal here. Meals include traditional food like masala dosa, idli, vada, sambhar, upma, poha, pongal etc. Enjoy wholesome breakfast at the small dining area near the garden with all the greenery surrounding you. When you are out on a day tour around Hampi, visiting Srinivas’s restaurant and ordering the local thali is highly recommended.
