The capital city of Himachal, Shimla is one of the most stunning hill stations in India. It used to be the summer capital of British India and retains its heritage with old structures made during the colonial era. That’s what lends it a distinct Victorian look and feel. The town is surrounded by pine and oak forests and is famous for pleasant walking experiences on hillsides. Take a leisurely walk at the Mall and shop for woolens, wooden stuff, jams, squashes, carpets; stroll along the meandering roads to the meadows; trek in the local mountains or ice skate during winters.
Built in the early 1850s, this British bungalow is located in the woods of Jakhu Hill and is just 10 minute walk from the city center. The bungalow has a lovely old world charm to it. The original architecture and interiors of old times have been retained while providing all the modern facilities. And all of this in the midst of pines and amazing mountain views. This vintage house has hosted many prolific figures – including the likes of Sir John Walsh, The Administrator General (Viceroy) of Bengal as well as several dignitaries in post Independence India. The property is spread across over 1 acre. The main house is a single storey Bungalow consisting of 6 spacious guest rooms with classy interiors and stunning views, including two Family Suites, each with two bedrooms and one attached bath; and two Superior Rooms with an attached bath in each. There are ample common seating areas for you to interact with co-travelers and the host. You have an option of both booking individual rooms or the entire villa.
