Dalhousie is one of India’s most beautiful hill stations located in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. With charming views of snow-capped peaks and the sprawling hills covered with pine and deodars, it has a breathtaking scenic beauty. Lord Dalhousie founded the town in 1854 because of its peaceful atmosphere and healthy surroundings. The British acquired the five hills — Kathalagh, Potreyn, Terah (now called Moti Tibba by the locals), Bakrota and Bhangora — from the ruler of the Chamba State for developing the area as a sanatorium.
Today also the town has old colonial feel to it with British colonial-era buildings, including St. Francis and St. John’s churches. There are three-level malls which were laid in 1860 for promenades, carriages, horses, dandies, etc. These roads and the steeper by-lanes which connect them to the bus-stand are still the arteries of the town.
It is an 80 year old house, located in midst of thick canopy of trees with unmatched views. There is an exciting 5-10 mnt uphill walk to reach the homestay which keeps it noise free. The Mall Road is just at 600 mtr walk or 2 km drive away.
The building comprises of 2 floors. There is a common-for-all lounge and dining area on the ground floor. First floor has 5 rooms and 2nd floor also has 5 rooms, four rooms with huge windows opening to the magical views and attached bathrooms. Six rooms have attached balconies as well. There is a small garden in the house with sit-out arrangement. Sitting on the terrace, sipping a hot coffee with views of the Pir Panjal range in front can be an unforgettable experience for anyone.

Johar has the exposure of working across various cities in India, so you would not feel alienated wherever you are from. On home-calling, he came back here to start this homestay along with a quick service food outlet. With photography, and cooking as his hobbies, he might even give you a tip or two on these. Among things he can cook the best are North Indian cuisine, Mughlai Seekh Kabab and Roasted Chicken. His wife is an English teacher in a nearby school.
