Demul is a charming little village situated at an altitude of 4357 m in Spiti Valley at a distance of about 32 kilometers from Kaza towards Tabo. The village is quiet and non-touristy, and all the more suitable for reflective, long stays, in the midst of nature. If you’re looking for transformative experiences and want to experience a slow village life away from all the amenities then this village is for you.
There are around 24 houses in the village participating in the homestay program. Every year coordinators are appointed to take care of these homestays. The representative allots homestay to the guest on rotation basis. The houses have local style external toilets. Demul is a perfect example of a strong community-based enterprise. The village which has perfected the socialist model so well, that the whole village prospers together.

The people of Demul are hardworking farmers busy from dawn to dusk tending their small fields in the short summer. They double up as shepherds, and in winter as carpet-weavers. They are the most humble people and truly live a minimal and happy life. You will be alloted a homestay and a host on reaching there.
