Mane is one of the lesser known villages in Spiti just about 30 kms from Kaza. It acts as a base for people wanting to trek to the Sopona lake or further towards Manirang Peak. But Mane Village is much more than just that. Staying here for a couple of days can give you a true taste of Spitian life. While staying here you can do day hikes, rock climbing and Manirang peak expedition. It is divided into 2 parts Mane Yogma and Mane Gogma.
It is a three story building that is a mix of traditional mud house and modern architecture and is located in the middle of the village. Three spacious rooms are available on the first floor with traditional style fire place. These rooms can accommodate 3-4 people with extra beds. One room is there on the ground floor and one on the top floor. There is a common room on the first floor that is open for guests from 8am to 11pm. It has board games and television. Only one room has an attached bathroom and for other 4 rooms there are 2 common bathrooms.

To reach the village you have to go 13 km from Tabo toward Kaza, take left from Mane Bridge to cross the river and a 6 km winding unpaved uphill road will take you to Mane.

They serve freshly prepared homemade local, Tibetan, Indian and Chinese. As Padma (head lady of house) is expert in local food, you can enjoy local cuisine for dinner and you need to inform the host in advance. Phenmaar for dessert, baturu for breakfast with boiled egg and jam, local pasta, momos and local chutny are our must try. Guests can also help in the kitchen or can cook food of their choice.

You will be hosted by Sonam Norbu, a professional mountaineer and climber who knows the valley really well. He has seven years plus experience in mountaineering, climbing (rock, ice, mountains), trekking and camping. He can organize adventure activities like rock climbing, rappelling, Mt. Manirang expedition, Yak safari and zip lining.
