Basoli is tiny village located in Almora district of Uttarakhand. Built with a mission to help grassroots women to diversify their income and to promote responsible and community-based tourism, these homestays connect tourists to the authentic rural and cultural experiences of the Himalayan region. The raw and authentic nature of the village provides the tourists with an opportunity to experience the traditional rural lifestyle of the Kumaon Himalayas.
This is a set of homestays that is placed in a rural setting with three units spread across the village. All units are mountain-facing and are on the ground floor. The first one is on the road side, has a balcony facing the river stream and has private western style bathroom outside the room. The other two houses are around 250 meters from the road and have Indian style common bathroom. While staying here you can engage in farm activities, village walks, traditional cooking and occasional cultural performances.

Local Kumaoni cuisine is served that is cooked mostly with organically grown vegetables and grains. Some of the dishes you must try are Mandue (millet) ki Rotis, Sarson ka raita, Bhaang ki chutney, Bhatt (Black soybean) ki dal, Jholi (Tempered with curry leaves and other Indian spices, slow- cooked yogurt and gram flour mixture), and of course there is a lot more to relish while you are here. Pahadi style non vegetarian food can also be prepared on order.

She runs the homestays with several other women as part of a women’s collective. They also offer recreational and cultural activities like making pine leaf handicrafts, sightseeing, cultural evenings, and more that you can be a part of during your stay.
