Merdhura in Jalna is a sub-alpine Himalayan village around 25 kms from Almora in Uttarakhand. The perfect geographical setting of this village offers spectacular Himalayan views. This experiential homestay is built amidst an orchard of deciduous fruit trees and evergreen pine and oak trees. It is an ideal place for those looking for a break from the humdrum of our daily city lives, take some time off to reflect, meditate, read, write and replenish energies. You can immerse in the local life and culture with forest trails around the place, visits to the local markets and villages nearby.
This tastefully done open studio is built with locally available material like wood, stones and salvaged patals (hand cut local stone slabs) by local artisans and syncs perfectly with the serene atmosphere of the village and the forests nearby. The entire unit can accommodate 4 people. Big windows and skylights draw in the visuals and beauty of the Himalayas and the surrounding woods into the home.
Watch the moon and stars through the skylight or watch the playful colors of the morning skies from your bed. Its minimalist decor with clay and stone walls, inbuilt wooden and stone seating and storage spaces and the bukhari (iron fireplace) to warm yourself up gives it the perfect mountain cabin vibe. Immerse yourself in the solitude of Himalayas. The farm and orchard are occasionally visited by a family of a barking deer and her fawn, butterflies, porcupines, and by monkeys during the harvesting. Every day starts with birdsongs and ends with their lullaby. Soak in the beauty of the majestic Himalayas, be one with nature around you!
