Singi is a quaint little village located in Bardhaman (Burdwan) district of West Bengal. It’s perfect for a weekend getaway from Kolkata as it’s just 2.5 hrs drive. The village is blanketed with greenery all around and is heaven for nature and bird lovers. Along with its natural beauty, it also has a strong historical & cultural background attracting people with different mythological temples and handicrafts. It is known to be the birthplace of the famous poet Kashiram Das, who translated the epic Mahabharata in Bengali.
It is a three-storied house nestled in the lap of nature with all modern facilities. There is a small beautifully maintained garden. It has a small pond for fishing and other activities. The homestay has six rooms for the guests; all come with an attached bathroom. Two of them are on the second floor, the other three on the third floor and one on the first floor with an attached garden. There is a big hall for various occasions and a roof where you can sit and enjoy the evenings with Muri Alur Chop and Cha (Bengali snack).

Food is a huge affair here. In fact this homestay was curated to provide ‘Bishmukt Bhojan’ mean pure organic food. Sudeshna is an expert on authentic Bengali food. She cook in traditional way using wood oven, clay and iron pots. Almost every supply to the kitchen comes from in-house resources. Fish comes from own pond, ghee and curd are home prepared and spices also grounded at home only. Sudeshna make sure her guests taste everything from nature’s basket. Sometimes she invite local people for cooking as well to add variety.

Barir baire arekti bari, eto sundor bangali khawa dawa, dada r boudi asadharan babohar e mugdho. Extra paona dada r guidance. Lunch, dinner e boudi r sthe jomiye golpo volar noi. Nxt time abr jachhi.
