This sleepy little town is set among the foothills and deep valleys of West Bengal. Located at an altitude of 4,100 feet, it is some 50 kms from Darjeeling. Because of its relatively lower altitude as compared to Darjeeling or Gangtok, the weather is mild and pleasant for most part of the year. You can enjoy magnificent views of Kanchenjunga and other Himalayan snow peaks, sweeping landscapes and lush greenery. Kalimpong is one of the most amazingly beautiful places to visit for folks interested in floriculture. Proximity to other tourist destinations. Other attractions include Buddhist monasteries including the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang – known for its rare Tibetan Buddhist scriptures, churches, an excellent private library for the study of Tibetan and Himalayan language and culture. It is a good place for watching birds and butterflies. You can also engage in activities like rafting and trekking.
It is a colonial bungalow 1 km ahead of the city center in Kalimpong. It is a charming hideout nestled in the lap of nature surrounded by majestic views. The food is home cooked and the choices are varied from Indian, Chinese and local Nepalese – Tibetan cuisine such as momo, thukpa etc. Breakfast options are aloo paratha, butter toast, egg to order, poori sabji, tea/ coffee etc.. Lunch and dinner includes seasonal vegetables, dal, rice, roti etc. Non vegetarian food is also available on order. The material used in the kitchen is all locally sourced and organic.
